Cost of a child

Woman with toddler

How much does it cost to bring up a child in the 21st century? This is not an easy calculation, and many different methods have been used. However, the Minimum Income Standard produces a stable approach to estimating the additional spending that families need to incur as a result of having children, if they are to maintain a minimum acceptable standard of living. Since 2012, Child Poverty Action Group and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation have funded CRSP to make this calculation on an annual basis.
