Daniel began his research associate position at CREST in 2017 for the EPSRC funded MANIFEST (Multi-scale ANalysis for Facilities for Energy STorage) project.

He began his PhD studies in Thermal energy storage at CREST, Loughborough University in 2014. PhD research focused on the development and testing of thermochemical energy storage materials for the domestic environment (up to 150°C). His research focuses on material choice and characteristics, reactor design and domestic acceptance and implementation.

PhD research was funded through the EPSRC research grant i-STUTE (Interdisciplinary Centre for Storage, Transformation and Upgrading of Thermal Energy).

He worked in the engineering and construction industry from 2013-2014 after gaining a BSc Physics degree in 2013.

Daniel is currently researching the design, development, modelling, analysis and experimental characterisation of new composite thermal energy storage materials, components and systems at a range of temperatures. Determining the potential of using medium and high temperature storage systems for electrical power generation to meet grid requirements in future energy networks is also a key part of his research. This project is funded through the EPSRC MANIFEST (Multi-scale ANalysis for Facilities for Energy STorage) research grant.

He is interested in all types of thermal energy storage (i.e. sensible, latent and thermochemical) for all applications (i.e. industrial and domestic).
