Kenan is a PhD student at the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST). His research area is based on thin film PV device production, durability and reliability.

He obtained his MSc degree in Electrical Technology for Sustainable and Renewable Energy System in 2010 from The University of Nottingham after graduating his BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Nigde University in 2008. Before joining to CREST, he has worked as a PV Test Engineer, Quality Manager and Project Engineer.

His project involves researching the robustness and reliability of the new ‘One Step Interconnect’ (OSI) process for manufacturing of thin film devices for the PV market. The OSI is a process that interconnects the cells after the deposition of the cells. This allows the manufacturing process to be uninterruptable which has benefits in production time and cost.

Several accelerated environmental tests and the certification tests according to the international standards for the thin film PV devices will be used. Furthermore, various imaging techniques, performance measurement tests and required level safety tests are proposed to generate a failure analysis of the design.
