Dr Brian Goss

Brian is an electrical engineer specialising in renewable energy who has worked in the field since 2000. He works as a research and development engineer within the Applied Photovoltaics group at CREST with a focus on improving the accuracy of solar photovoltaic energy yield prediction.

Key interests are performance relevant effects on photovoltaic (PV) devices, modules and system. Work ranges from modelling detailed device physics to the monitoring and quality control of installed systems. Research interests cover automation of measurement processes, meteorology and metrology.

Brian is responsible for the CREST outdoor renewable energy test site and indoor inverter test facility.

 

Brian's qualifications include:

  • NVQ Electrical Installation, Chesterfield College;
  • MSc Renewable Energy Systems Technology, CREST, Loughborough University;
  • Engineering Doctorate in Systems Engineering, CREST, Loughborough University;
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • First Aid at Work

*Overcurrent protection of PV DC circuits
