Centre for Media Data and Society
Marking Central European University’s commitment to play a role in media and communication policy, the Center for Media, Data and Society (CMDS) seeks to improve the quality of media policymaking through research and debate. Founded in 2004 as the Centre for Media and Communication Studies, CMDS is part of CEU’s School of Public Policy and serves as a focal point for an international network of acclaimed scholars, research institutions and activists. Its research focuses on the study of media, communication, and information policy and its impact on society and practice.
Global Media Studies Network
In 2016 colleagues from the CRCC and the Global Media Studies Initiative based in the Department of Communication Studies at University of Michigan, launched the Global Media Studies Network.
This network is developing innovative cross-disciplinary communications research and providing a global hub for the exploration of media, communications and culture in an international context.
Through workshops, symposia, and collaborative projects, our goal is to both build on and diversify this network of communications scholars to develop cutting edge research on global media, communications and culture.
We are a welcoming, interdisciplinary environment for visiting scholars from around the world who are working in the fields of communication and culture. The CRCC has hosted scholars from a wide range of international Communications departments, including Spain, Romania, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Bulgaria, South Korea, Japan, China, Holland, Chile and Sweden.
