About this event
Policy, media and public discourses in the UK and beyond are influenced by the ways in which immigration is measured, analysed, and reported. Professor Rees’ public lecture will: provide a review Party Manifestos and Think Tank Policy advice on immigration; reflect on what a good immigration policy for the UK should look like post-Brexit; present a plan for improving international migration statistics in the UK, and; provide some forecasts of future international migration.
Professor Phillip Rees is a British population geographer and demographer. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Population Geography at the University of Leeds. In 1996 he was awarded the Gill Memorial Award from the Royal Geographical Society, in 1998 was made a fellow of the British Academy, in 2004 appointed as a Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and in 2009 he was awarded the Victoria Medal from the Royal Geographical Society.
