The protection of children online: a brief scoping review to identify vulnerable groups

Funded by the Department for Education (CWRC)

This rapid review was undertaken for the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) to identify key research addressing internet technology risks for children, including both content risks (such as age-inappropriate or harmful content and advice) and contact risks (such as cybergrooming, cyberbullying/stalking and problematic content sharing). It aimed to identify evidence on the impact or harm that children might suffer, and what is known about the factors that may influence children's on-line vulnerability. Gaps in the evidence base were identified and recommendations made for future research.
