Exploring costs and outcomes

Evaluation of the impact of Action for Children short break services on outcomes for children

Funded by Action for Children

Research suggests that as a group, disabled children, and their families, are among the most vulnerable, meaning that disabled children, along with their parents and siblings, are at high risk of social isolation, poor outcomes and economic disadvantage. Existing evidence shows that a break from caring is one of the most frequently requested services from families caring for disabled children. Action for Children’s Short Breaks services aim to support these families, providing positive experiences for the disabled child or young person at the same time as offering a break from caring to parents or carers.

This study explores the impact of Action for Children short break services on disabled children and their families.
