Out of the Shadows: 275 years of Coram Championing Invisible Children

Monday 3rd November 2014, 6.30pm, The Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 1AZ

On Monday 3rd November, Professor Harriet Ward will lead an evening of celebration of Coram’s impact on child welfare policy and practice since 1739.  She will be joined by an eminent group of individuals to explore the shaping of social care over 275 years to bring invisible children out of the shadows.

Professor John Styles (Research Professor in History, University of Hertfordshire and Curator of the Threads of Feeling exhibition, The Foundling Hospital*) will begin with the establishment of the Foundling Hospital in 1739, while enduring themes of separation and loss will be central to Harriet’s presentation.  As the present is informed by the past, the event will facilitate reflection combined with music, display and discussion.
