Evaluation of The London Fostering Achievement Programme - Final Report
12 May 2016

The Mayor of London provided £500,000 in funding through the London Schools Excellence Fund to raise the aspirations and achievements of children living with foster families across the capital.

London Fostering Achievement was a programme delivered by the charity The Fostering Network in partnership with Achievement for All 3As. It worked closely with virtual schools to develop the confidence and skills of London’s foster carers, leaders, teachers, social workers and wider professionals. The programme has trained over 1600 foster carers and wider professionals to boost their skills and confidence to support children looked after, providing sessions in 31 London boroughs and five masterclasses focusing on specific educational themes.

London Fostering Achievement also supported 25 schools to help the children in their care to achieve the very best in their education. The programme piloted an innovative peer support approach, recruiting 10 foster carers to be ‘Education Champions’, providing advice and guidance to other foster carers.

For more information on the project, please visit the London Fostering Achievement website.
