Clare joined CCFR in May 2009 and has a MA Health Promotion, BA (Hons) Social Work and Welfare Studies and PgDip Drug Use and Addiction.

Clare previously worked in the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology at the University of Nottingham undertaking a Cochrane systematic review of interventions for vitiligo. Prior to this she worked in the Centre for Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University on a range of projects such as the evaluation of projects aimed an vulnerable young people, which included a tier two substance service for looked after children. This evaluation was commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods were adopted, including semi-structured interviews with staff to explore and approaches to service delivery, questionnaires and interviews with young people to explore their views and assess their outcomes and the annual cost of delivering such services and supporting a young person. Other studies undertaken include a systematic review of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions delivered in primary and secondary schools to prevent and reduce alcohol use by young people and an in-depth study of young people’s knowledge and attitudes towards smoking, the legal age of purchasing cigarettes, access to cigarettes and anti-smoking campaigns. Both were commissioned by the National Institute of Health
