PhD and MPhil postgraduate research within Applied VisionThe Applied Vision Research Centre is always keen to support postgraduate research into applied aspects of vision and cognition, particularly in health related or imaging related fields. There are three ways in which such research can be funded; project funded, self funded, and other funded. Project fundedNearly all of our research work is externally funded by research grants and sometimes this funding includes provision for a research studentship allied to the specific research project. Where this is the case then such studentships are advertised on our ‘AVRC news and vacancies’ web page as well as being advertised on www.jobs.ac.uk . Self fundedSelf funded research students, from within the EU, who wish to pursue research broadly in any area related to the major research themes within the AVRC are welcome to contact us for further information. Self-funded research students, from outside the EU, who wish to pursue research broadly in any area related to the major research themes within the AVRC are welcome to contact us for further information. Such potential research students can apply for a scholarship which is awarded on individual merit. The scholarship amounts to a £3,000 per year reduction in the tuition fee charged by the University for such students. Other fundedVarious organisations offer support for research students. For instance, some sources for international students can be found here.
