AMRG Researcher Wins FAME Jr. Award

20th June 2011

FAME award Candice Majewski has been awarded the 2011 International Outstanding Young Researcher in Freeform and Additive Manufacturing Award, also known as the FAME Junior Award.  The award is sponsored by the International Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium – An Additive Manufacturing Conference, and is given annually to recognize an outstanding young researcher in the field of freeform/additive fabrication early in their career. 

 

£5M EPSRC Grant Awarded to AMRG

iCAT 2010 Best Young Scientist AwardThe Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council has awarded the AMRG a £5million grant to form the 'EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Additive Manufacturing'.

The grant will allow the world-leading research group to expand beyond its current activities, with the acquisition of new equipment and a focus on the application and research of multiple-material systems for AM.

AMRG Researcher Wins 'Best Young Scientist Award'

iCAT 2010 Best Young Scientist AwardMatteo Gatto was awarded the 'Best Young Scientist Award' at the 3rd International Conference on Additive Technologies in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.

The award was for the paper 'Investigating the effectiveness of three-dimensional-printing for producing realistic physical surgical training phantoms', co-authored by Russ Harris, Anshul Sama and Jason Watson.

AMRG Paper in the 'Top 5 Most Downloaded of 2010'

14th February 2011

IMechE logoThe paper 'A nanometre-scale fibre-to-matrix interface characterization of an ultrasonically consolidated metal matrix composite' by Ross Friel and Russ Harris was one of the top five most downloaded papers published in the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications in 2010.

 

ATKINS Project Wins 'Manufacturing and Process Innovation' Award

the Engineer Awards 2010The ATKINS project has won the Engineer magazine's 2010 award for 'manufacturing and process innovation'.

ATKINS is a £2.9-million collaborative research and development project funded by the UK government and a consortium of leading industrial partners comprising Econolyst, Bentley, Alcon, Delphi, Virgin Atlantic, Boeing and MTT.

AMRG Researchers Win 'Outstanding Paper' Award

27th July 2010

Recipients with their 'outstanding paper' awardHadi Zarringhalam, Candice Majewski and Neil Hopkinson have been awarded the Rapid Prototyping Journal's Outstanding Paper Award 2010, for their paper 'Degree of Particle Melt in Nylon-12 Selective Laser Sintered Parts'.

The nominator, Prof. Dave Bourell said: "This one is the best stab to date at understanding and predicting the effect of SLS processing on part properties, one of the holy grails of AM"
