Summary/Biography:

Selected as part of the CDT in Additive Manufacturing (2015), James spent the first year of postgraduate study gaining an understanding and appreciation for 3D printing and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies at the University of Nottingham.

Over this initial year, he undertook several projects including:

Group Grand Challenge (GGC) to design and manufacture a binder jet printer

Mechanical testing of AM processed materials

Individual project focused on the use of AM technology, image capture software and its application to the production of surgical phantoms

Present ‘GGC’ poster at the Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium, Texas, USA

Research Projects:

The application of AM to the design and Manufacture of functionally graded medical implants
