Professional / academic background
Dr. David Brackett has worked as a Research Associate within the AMRG since 2009 and gained his PhD in 2011 on the topic of design optimisation for AM. He is currently working on the Atkins project looking at designing lightweight automotive and aerospace components to improve efficiency. This involves investigations primarily into topology optimisation and lattice design methods with specific intention of manufacturing using metal selective laser melting AM processes.
Before joining the AMRG, David achieved his MEng degree in Product Design and Manufacture in 2006 from the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University. David has 2 years of industrial engineering experience.
