Professional / academic background
Dr Chang-Jing Kong joined Additive Manufacturing Research Group as a research associate in May 2009. She worked as a research fellow in the Cranfield University before she moved to Loughborough University.
Dr Kong got her PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2004, UK. Before this, she worked in the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academic of Sciences and the Benxi Iron and Steel Corporation respectively.
She got her Master and Beachelor degrees from Dalian University of Technology, China.

Current research activity
Dr Chang-Jing Kong presently works on the Atkins project. The purpose of this project is holistic investigation of the energy minimisation in product manufacturing, distribution and use by creating an energy-efficient design, manufacturing and distribution technology platform based on unique charcterisation of additive manufacturing technologies.
She is responsible for the investigation of energy-efficient manufacturing metal components using the high energy laser additive manufacturing technology.
