Information and Library Management
MA/MSc/Diploma 1 year full-time (9 months Diploma) up to 3 years part-time
The programme provides a broad understanding of the principles of librarianship and information work, of the organisation and management of libraries and other information agencies, and of the handling, storage and retrieval of information in all media. The programme is in two parts: taught modules and a dissertation. Teaching emphasises the practical development of skills as well as the exploration of theoretical concepts. We teach research methods and provide one-to-one supervision throughout the dissertation period.

Assessment
MA/MSc: coursework and dissertation. The dissertation involves supervised, but self-directed, study. Diploma: coursework.
Entry Qualification
Minimum 2:2 UK honours degree or equivalent in any subject and work experience in a library or information service (length of experience negotiable).Applicants must meet the Department’s minimum English language requirements.
These are in addition to the General Entrance Requirements.

Scholarships and Sponsorships
UK or EU Member States students with an offer of a place may be able to apply for AHRC Professional Preparation Master’s Scheme studentships, which are awarded on a competitivebasis. The Department also offers a limited number of scholarships to UK/ EU students with outstanding academic track records and to international candidates who can demonstrate substantial contribution to the profession.
