People of all ages to be inspired at STEM Community Day 2018

From budding astrophysicists and mathematicians, to those with wild imaginations and a thirst for trying new things, Loughborough University aims to inspire everyone at its annual STEM Community Day.

The popular event returns to campus on 21 April 2018, inviting people of all ages to get involved with a series of hands-on activities, workshops and demonstrations that celebrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The day will comprise a variety of activities that are suitable for school-aged children but are fun and engaging for everyone.

Participants can try their hand at creating electrical circuits, walk on custard, burn some calories on the ‘smoothie bike’ and experience a world in Virtual Reality. They can also meet and learn from academics in STEM-related departments within the University.

Marc Alner, Student Recruitment Officer at Loughborough, said: “Every year the University produces ground-breaking research and provides world-leading facilities for students studying these subjects.

“Our team is excited to present a day of interactive, engaging events which truly encapsulate the best of the University’s STEM-related subjects – from the things we come across in our everyday lives, to the research making headlines.”

The event is free to attend and runs from 1pm-5pm in West Park Teaching Hub and STEM Lab buildings on the Loughborough University campus.

Further details, including the full programme for the day, can be found on the event website.

Those wishing to attend are recommended to register in advance in order to gain quicker entry on the day as well as to reserve spaces for workshops with limited capacity.
