Institute of Advanced Studies brings world-leading communication scholars to Loughborough

The Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) at Loughborough University is running a series of events on the theme of Communication, in collaboration with colleagues from the Centre for Research in Communication and Culture.

The programme is already underway, hosting a range of internationally renowned visitors at numerous events including public lectures, master classes and workshops.

Look out for the next series of events, including sessions with Professor Shyam Sundar from Penn State University on Monday 6 November and Wednesday 8 November. Professor David Lyon from Queens University Canada will also be holding lectures about surveillance on 22 and 23 November.

The University has already hosted Professors Barbie Zelizer (Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania), Gianpietro Mazzoleni (University of Milan) and Sergio Splendore (University of Milan), who have engaged with staff and students and also launched the IAS series of ‘Loughborough Conversations’ (see Professor Zelizer in conversation with Professor James Stanyer).

Professor David Deacon, Director of the IAS said: “The world leading scholars we have already hosted at our campuses, and the engagement from staff from across a wide range of departments and schools has enhanced our research environment and helped build our international profile.

“It is wonderful to see the connections between our researchers and visitors develop and we’re really excited about the possibilities the IAS will open up for the future.”

Events are open to all and are available to book online on the IAS events page.
