University seeks nominations for student community awards

Do you know a student who is an asset to the local community? If so, Loughborough University would like to hear from you for their annual student community awards.

The first award, The T S Shipman Prize, is for students of the University or College who are considered to have contributed most to the development of co-operation and aid between the University or College and the local community. This award may, for example, recognise a student who has worked on a voluntary basis for a charity, school or community group.

The second award, The Hannah Community Prize, seeks to recognise students for showing acts of kindness, general good neighbourliness or making contribution to local community life.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 31 March. Further information and nominations forms can be found on the University website or call Gary Rackstraw, Secretary to Prizes Committee on 01509222819.

A prize giving ceremony will be held prior to the end of the summer term.

Alison Barlow, Stakeholder Relations Manager at the University, comments: “Many of our students take time away from their studies to contribute and support the community in some way and their efforts are not always recognised. As a University, we are delighted to honour outstanding achievement and would be pleased to receive nominations for these important awards.”
