Loughborough shortlisted for record nine out of ten Whatuni Student Choice Awards

The awards are voted for by students, with more than 25,000 across the country casting their opinions over the past 12 months for the Whatuni Student Rankings.

Loughborough has been shortlisted in nine categories – accommodation, clubs and societies, course and lecturers, job prospects, student union, university facilities, support services, international (based on the overall rating as given by international students at each university) and an overall rating which counts towards the title ‘University of the Year’, which Loughborough won in 2015.

The Whatuni Student Rankings are based on averages taken from thousands of reviews submitted by students and published on the site.  They offer prospective students an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems.

This year 25,000 reviews were counted; 125 universities met the minimum threshold to be considered for a Student Choice Award; and 39 universities have received a nomination.

Loughborough University Vice Chancellor, Professor Bob Allison said: “I am thrilled that we have been shortlisted in nine out of ten categories.  It is an incredible achievement, made all the more important by the fact that these awards are voted for by students.”

Simon Emmett, CEO of Whatuni.com parent company Hotcourses Group, commented: “We are delighted to see universities that are being nominated for a number of categories across the board at this year’s awards.  It truly reflects a student experience that goes beyond teaching excellence and touches on all aspects of a student’s life.”

The official 2016 Whatuni Student Rankings will be announced on April 14 at a ceremony in London.
