University funding supports local community groups

Donations were made from the Inside Out Fund which is designed to support members of staff from the University who are involved in community groups outside of work.

The organisations and projects receiving funding are:

Thorpe Acre Scout Group

Development/refurbishment of The Scout Hut – including refurbishing the entrance hall, wall insulation and double glazing

3rd Loughborough Scout Group

Replace equipment required for camping trips 

1st Wymeswold Brownies

Funding to support two night residential/Pack Holiday for Brownies at Willesley Scout Camp

Garendon Park Explorer Scout Group

Purchase specialist camping equipment to be used as part of work towards Duke of Edinburgh award at both Silver and Gold level

The Baca Charity

Funding towards day trip at Peak District – donation will fund minibus hire, fuel costs, support workers time and a packed lunch

Barkby United Cricket Club

Donation to repair cricket nets  

Nottingham Irish Studies Group

Two community groups also received cheques as part of the Special Projects Fund. Fearon Hall received £8,000 through the fund to enhance their kitchen facility and Sorrel Youth Café received £2,000 to update their computer equipment.

The University’s Vice Chancellor, Robert Allison, presented the cheques at the ceremony last week.

Stakeholder Relations Manager, Alison Barlow, said: “We are delighted to have supported some fantastic organisations through the Inside Out Fund for another year running. It’s great to see our staff members involved in such a variety of voluntary projects. We look forward to supporting more staff through the fund next year.”
