University supports Travis Perkins plc in the search for innovation

The Awards have been developed in an attempt to find ground breaking product innovation and problem solutions for the UK construction industry.

The competition is open to all individuals across a range of sectors and has two entry streams which are Problem Solving and Product Innovation.

The Product Innovation category focusses on new construction products with applicants invited to submit their ideas and specifications. Applicants to the Problem Solving category can put forward solutions to industry-specific problems identified by Travis Perkins plc customers.

The Awards provide an opportunity for somebody to win substantial financial and business support for product and idea development. This includes up to £10,000 in financing, business mentoring from the Travis Perkins senior team and, or the chance to trial products in selected Travis Perkins plc locations around the UK.

Dr Chris Goodier, Senior Lecturer in the School of Civil and Building Engineering, will be on the panel of expert judges who will be reviewing the applications over the summer. Speaking on the Awards, he comments:

“Loughborough has a long history of working closely with industry and conducting research that matters, hence I’m very proud to be one of the judges for the Travis Perkins Innovation Awards. We need to identify and celebrate innovation in construction if we are to progress as an industry and tackle the significant global challenges facing the industry such as climate change adaptation and infrastructure renewal, and these awards will help contribute towards that.”

This competition provides an opportunity for all the people out there who been harbouring a great new idea for the construction industry to bring it to the attention of market experts and get the support they need for development and marketing.”
