Loughborough leaps to 2nd in Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey

Loughborough University has risen to 2nd place overall in the Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey, published today (9 April 2015).

The survey reveals the views of around 14,700 students from across the UK on a range of aspects of student life, such as the quality of courses, the support available and student accommodation.

In this year’s survey Loughborough’s facilities were rated the best in the country, with the University ranked number one in both the High Quality Facilities and Good Sports Facilities categories. Loughborough Students’ Union was also rated highly, securing joint second place, and the University was ranked in joint third place for its social life and its extra-curricular activities and societies.

In total Loughborough was ranked in the top ten in 14 of the survey’s 22 categories.

Commenting on Loughborough’s achievement, Professor Robert Allison, the University’s Vice Chancellor, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. We work closely with our Students’ Union to ensure that we provide an all-round experience that equips our students for every aspect of their life and career. This poll is well-deserved recognition of the continued hard work of everyone at the University and at the Students’ Union in delivering a first-class experience.”

Rob Whittaker, President of Loughborough Students’ Union, said: “Our high placing in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey recognises how amazing the student experience at Loughborough is.

“We work hard to develop strong partnerships across the University, which enable us to provide a broad range of opportunities that meet the diverse requirements of our students. The community feel, the number of student activities and the outstanding opportunities give our campus a real buzz and make Loughborough great.
