Students’ Union Big Litter Pick picks up Don't Muck Around award

The Big Litter Pick – a project led by Action, Loughborough Students’ Union’s volunteering section – has won the Inspiring Others prize at the 2014 Don’t Muck Around Awards.

The Awards are part of Charnwood Borough Council’s environmental campaign to tackle enviro-crime in Charnwood, and recognise people, organisations, groups and communities who go above and beyond to care for the environment.

The Big Litter Pick, held in May 2014, saw around 800 Loughborough University students take to the town’s streets to reduce litter. The project was a massive success, with more than 100 large bags of rubbish collected.

Readers of the Loughborough Echo, one of the awards sponsors, voted it their favourite project from a shortlist of eight, in the Inspiring Others category.
