Loughborough University can help you to recruit the best
Loughborough University is offering a great opportunity for East Midlands based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to hone their recruitment and interview skills.
The free breakfast workshop, on Tuesday 26 February, will discuss how to attract, select, and secure the best talent for your business. There will also be a master-class on the use of social media to recruit for free.
What’s more, the interactive event coincides with the University’s annual Spring Recruitment Fair which delegates are also welcome to attend to find out more about graduate recruitment.
Graduates in business
As part of its on-going commitment to increase engagement with local employers, Loughborough University has recently launched a new scheme that provides SMEs with a variety of options to access its first-class graduates, research expertise and facilities, together with grant funding of up to £1,600 to help meet some of the costs involved.
The Graduates in Business project offers companies the choice of a 6-12 month graduate internship; a strategic knowledge exchange project delivered by a graduate intern with academic support from Loughborough University; or an intensive 12 month academic secondment.
The project is part funded through the 2007-2013 East Midlands Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Competitiveness Fund.
One Derbyshire company who have seen for themselves the benefits of employing a graduate intern is Collis Engineering, specialists in the design, supply and installation of support structures for railway signalling applications.
Loughborough graduate Daniel Hodgkinson joined Collis for six months as part of a University graduate scheme and really impressed the company.
Collis Managing Director, Peter Roberts said: “The University graduate scheme effectively gave us a six-month job interview. We were very pleased with Dan and offered him a job at the end of his placement. We are looking forward to working alongside the University again to recruit a second graduate.”
