Claudia Parsons Hall – logo competition

The newest student accommodation at Loughborough University is set to open in September 2019 and will be named Claudia Parsons Hall. Claudia was an English engineer, traveller and alumna of the University.

Brief

Loughborough University and Loughborough Students’ Union are inviting entries for a competition to design a logo to represent the new hall.

Technical specification

  • The logo must be suitable for use in a variety of formats – from print and online to items of merchandise such as clothing
  • The logo will need to be designed for use in various sizes (as a guide minimum size  2cm x 2cm)
  • The logo must be designed within a 12cm x 12cm square area (but doesn’t have to fill the entire area)
  • The design should be in colour but consideration for reproduction in black & white should also be considered.
  • All submitted ideas need to be useable as a final logo. Where this is not the case the winning idea will be recreated as closely as possible by Creative and Print Services
  • Designs should be submitted as JPG, PDF or EPS files

Claudia Parsons (15 August 1900 – 5 June 1998) was an English engineer, traveller and Alumna of Loughborough University.

  • She enrolled on an automobile engineering course in 1919 and graduated in 1922 - she was one of just three women studying engineering out of three hundred students.
  • She is known for being the first woman to circumnavigate the world by car

T&Cs

  • The competition is open to all students of Loughborough University
  • Entrants can submit up to 3 ideas
  • Entries must be submitted by 11.59pm on Friday 16 November 2018. Entries received after this will not be considered.
  • The artist assigns the rights of the design to Loughborough University but will be credited
  • The entries will be judged by a panel made up of representatives from Loughborough Students’ Union and Loughborough University
  • The winner will be notified by email.
  • Winners agree to be named in promotion and agree to being photographed for this activity.
  • The judges’ decision is final.
