The AVRC has been involved for some years in the field of vehicles and driving - particularly from the perspective of ergonomics and vision. We run the Vision In Vehicles (VIV) conference series, which is held every two years (see Conferences and Forums). The projects below are examples of our work in this field:

ACTIVE - a research project to develop a system for interfacing with vehicle's secondary controls by means of gesture recognition.

Bridge Bashing - research undertaken into the phenomenon of high-sided vehicles hitting low bridges. Attempts were made to understand the psychological principles involved and to devise means of helping to reduce the instances of bridge strikes.
