SE Controls – a leading specialist in natural ventilation and smoke control – manufactures, installs and maintains smart, adaptive systems which control building environments.

The Lichfield-based company had long specialised in new build projects, but was keen to move into a new market – the refurbishment of existing commercial premises.

By accessing Loughborough’s cutting-edge expertise via a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, SE Controls developed new products and processes – equipping them to enter this newly identified market.

Professor Malcolm Cook, from the University’s school of Civil and Building Engineering School, supported associate Narguess Khatami who joined the company for the two-year KTP project.

The work has led to the design and manufacture of a new, state-of-the-art, building controller, NV LogIQTM, which incorporates the new algorithms developed during the project, and is now the centrepiece of a new product range.
