Knowledge Transfer Partnership

Apical develops the technology that not only allows cameras to take high-quality pictures, but also improves the output and efficiency of image displays. A number of the company’s ground-breaking products are licensed to clients – many of which are familiar household names – across a range of global industries, including e-commerce and electronic consumables.

A recent two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the University’s Digital Imaging Research Group and Apical – QPipe – has resulted in the successful development of advanced image signalling processors (ISP) capable of providing a multitude of image enhancements within a single, efficient image processing pipeline.

The company’s newly developed ISPs are predicted to reach 30 million users world-wide during the coming year – improving the images we see online, on screen, and on our cameras and phones.

  • The newly developed ISPs allow Apical to venture into new markets, increasing the company’s market share and revenue
  • The research partnership between Apical and the University continues to flourish
  • Apical has recruited a number of Loughborough graduates to its specialist workforce
