Prof Stuart Biddle

One of the world’s leading physical activity experts hopes to inspire local teens to get up and do more at a special lecture at Loughborough University later this month.

In his lecture Why you should always take your dog for a walk, even if you don’t have one!, world-renowned authority on sedentary behaviour Professor Stuart Biddle will explain why we sit too much and move too little.

Prof Biddle will underline why our increasingly sedentary lifestyles have serious health consequences for society, and will explain how he’s working with colleagues, the government and other organisations to seek ways of increasing feelings of well-being and reduce modern-day diseases including obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

The lecture, part of the University’s Inspiring Minds series, takes place on Monday 30 June from 5-6pm in the School of Business and Economics (room BE0.53). Refreshments are available from 4.30pm.

The Inspiring Minds Secondary School Lecture Series showcases how Loughborough research addresses real life issues. Lectures are aimed at school and college pupils in years 11 and 12 considering study at university, giving them the chance to experience undergraduate level teaching. Parents and teachers are also welcome.
