Doubled University Community Donations Fund open for bids

Loughborough University is once more offering community groups across Charnwood the chance to bid to its Community Donations Fund, with double the normal amount of money on offer for the first time.

The University is delighted to confirm that £10,000 is being made available for its Open Fund this year instead of £5,000.

The Open Fund is one of four rounds of funding made available by the University.  Traditionally allocated during the spring term, it is a fund offering significant flexibility for organisations in need of financial support as it has few bidding criteria attached to it.  The only requirements are that projects or activities should be Charnwood based and groups must be non-political in nature.

Last year the University supported 15 groups through the Open Fund and more than £90,000 has been handed out since the Community Donations Fund was launched in the 2008/09 academic year.  A wide range of projects and activities have received support including sports clubs, music organisations, residents’ associations and groups for those with special needs.

Alison Barlow, Community Relations Officer comments "We are delighted to be able to offer increased funds this year and look forward to helping community groups deliver exciting and worthwhile projects across Charnwood."

Bids (for up to £750) should be submitted by 5pm on Friday 15 March 2013.  Further information on the Community Donations Fund and application forms are available online at www.lboro.ac.uk/community or from Alison Barlow, Community Relations Officer at the University by phoning 01509 228696 or by email: a.j.barlow@lboro.ac.uk
