Latest figures show that Loughborough graduates get jobs

Eighty-seven per cent of Loughborough students who completed their degree in 2012 were in employment or undertaking further study six months after graduating, according to the latest national survey.

The Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education Survey also revealed that just 7% of Loughborough graduates were unemployed, compared to the national average of 9%.

Seventy-six per cent of Loughborough graduates were also employed as managers and senior officials, or in professional or technical occupations (classed as the top three categories of employment), considerably above the national average of 64%.

Loughborough graduates’ average starting salaries were also above the national average.

In today’s competitive job market, Loughborough graduates stand out as having gained a quality degree. The University’s programmes are highly regarded by business, and Loughborough’s
graduates are consistently targeted by the UK’s top recruiters. Many of the University’s degrees are accredited by professional bodies and are supported by world-leading industry, meaning Loughborough’s students develop the knowledge, skills and qualities required by business.

Year-long placements, available on more than 80% of Loughborough’s undergraduate courses, also allow significant numbers of the University’s students to apply, and enhance, their knowledge and skills through crucial work experience.

Karl Pallas, an undergraduate from Civil and Building Engineering, undertook his industrial placement with the Kier Group. Karl worked at Kier’s King's Cross Development in Central London – one of the largest sites seen in London for over 100 years.
