Dobriskey gives fine performance at Paris event
12 July 2012
Loughborough University’s Lisa Dobriskey showed she is coming to the boil nicely for the London 2012 Olympics with a fine performance at the seventh Diamond League event of the year in Paris.
Although she finished eighth in the 1,500 metres, six seconds behind winner Mariem Alaoui Selsouli (Morocco), she ran a season’s best time of 4:02.13secs.
That was nearly 20 seconds better than the time (4:21.91) she ran at the Aviva Trials in June when she finished second behind Laura Weightman in a tactical race.
Lisa, 28, will be making her second appearance at the Olympics, having competed in Beijing four years ago when she narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth. That resulted in her being ranked fourth in the world.
Lisa, the 2006 Commonwealth gold medallist, won a silver medal at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin and also that year ran her personal best time of 3:59.50 in Zurich.
