Medal Makers

Medal Makers volunteers

Medal Makers are volunteers who were recruited to support the official Team GB Preparation Camp at Loughborough University.

This exceptionally strong pool of volunteers were allocated to key roles during the Preparation Camp over the summer and supported the University and the Olympic hopefuls on campus.

To help provide the ultimate environment for Olympic successes, Loughborough University recognised the need to design and implement an effective volunteering programme to deliver exceptional support for training camps, kitting out, and other special events and ceremonies.

A number of Medal Makers Ambassadors were also recruited from the University and the wider community, and helped with the recruitment and development of the volunteers.

Lasting legacy

The Medal Makers programme was awarded the London 2012 Inspire mark which recognised outstanding projects and events helping to deliver the Games’ lasting legacy.

Medal Makers is part of the wider London 2012 Inspire programme which has sport at its heart and London at its centre - but it is more than London and more than sport. It is for London and all of the UK, for sport and for culture, for education, for volunteering and for business opportunities.

In total there were 392 volunteers logging an amazing 13,013 hours of volunteering!
