I try to retain the enjoyment of playing sport because that’s when I tend to play better.
Q How did you get started?
A I read about UK Sport’s talent identification schemes and applied for trails. I got through a series of trials before being offered a contract on the full time British Handball Development Programme, based in Denmark.
Q What has been the highlight of your career so far?
A I was named the British Olympic Association Handball Athlete of the Year 2008.
Q What is your training schedule?
A I probably spend about 14 hours a week training. I also spend time watching handball matches and analysing performances where possible. Training involves handball skills and team work, strength and conditioning work as well as sports specific fitness work.
Q What's your diet on an average day?
A A normal day would include 4 Weetabix and toast, protein bar and banana after the gym, a double sandwich and yoghurt or a pasta-based meal, fruit, and for dinner I usually have chicken, vegetables, pasta or noodles.
Q What are your hobbies away from sport?
A I like to chill out with mates or go to watch other sports.
