I like to create things and engineer ideas revolving around sport!
Q How did you get started?
A I started running at the age of 19 and have been a part of a number of teams including Loughborough University, Woodford Green, Essex Ladies, Oklahoma State and Durham University.
Q What has been the highlight of your career so far?
A I am most proud of qualifying for the Senior European XC team at 19 after starting running three months before.
Q What is your training schedule?
A I usually train for 20 hours or more a week, this includes drills, core and recovery sessions. Usually my week includes a mix of easy recovery runs, interval work, tempo / hill runs, a medium long run of about 90 minutes and a long run. The long run is usually two hours on a Sunday.
Q What's your diet on an average day?
A I usually have a big breakfast of porridge, fruit, eggs and ham with coffee and an electrolyte drink. Lunch is usually a potato and meat or fish salad. Sometimes I need a pre-training snack so I will have a bowl of muesli, a banana and some coffee. After training I usually have supper which might include meat or fish, green vegetables and potatoes, rice, couscous, or lentils.
Q What are your hobbies away from sport?
A I enjoy eating at nice restaurants, live music, gardening, being with friends and family – and my dog!
Q Who is your sporting hero?
A My sporting heroes include Mansour Bahrami, Goran Ivanisevic, Sir Chris Chataway, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards and Andre Agassi.
