After competitions I celebrate by having some kind of fast-food or some kind of bad food which I normally wouldn’t have! I rarely go out at night and never during the season but I have a month after the summer before starting winter training where I can enjoy being a normal person!
Q How did you get started?
A I first got involved with sport through my parents local athletics club in Bridgend when I was 9 years old. I did my first decathlon when I was 14.
Q What has been the highlight of your career so far?
A I won the national decathlon title at age 18, breaking the U20 UK record, which I still hold.
Q What is your training schedule?
A I train up to 25 hours a week in the winter and a bit less during competition season. My training involves all 10 events plus weights and gymnastics.
Q What's your diet on an average day?
A On an average day I would normally get through some porridge, 4 eggs, a smoothie with a least 10 portions of fruit and veg, peanut butter on toast, 2 protein shakes, home-made lasagne and lots of water.
Q What are your hobbies away from sport?
A I enjoy watching films, playing games, listening to music, watching football and spending time with my friends and girlfriend.
Q Who is your sporting hero?
A Daley Thompson.
