Nearly each month the University Library selects a new or popular database to focus on.

The workshops normally take place in Training Room 1 on Level 3 of the Library from 10:00am to 11:30am , unless otherwise specified.

Fame

Fame contains comprehensive information on companies in the UK and Ireland. You can use it to research individual companies, search for companies with specific profiles and for analysis. Fame includes company accounts, ratios, activities, ownership and management data for the largest 2.4 million UK and Irish companies with summary information for a further 950,000 smaller businesses.

Web of Science

Web of Science consists of: Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index. It is a multi-disciplinary database that covers articles from over 8,000 journals worldwide. It is available from Web of Knowledge.

New Reading List System

The University's Online Reading List System allows the easy creation and central storage of readings being recommended to students (e.g. books, journal articles, electronic resources, etc.). The system also links directly to the Library's catalogue, so that students can quickly and easily check the current availability of the material

Westlaw

Westlaw UK provides access to full-text, up-to-date, UK, EU and international legislation, case-law and full-text journal articles, plus a current awareness section arranged by subject which is updated three times a day. It also contains the Legal Journals Index, which is the most comprehensive index of UK legal journals (some of which are contained within Westlaw itself). You can access international legal materials, especially US case law, legislation and full-text journals and multi-national materials .

The University's Institutional Repository

This course will provide participants with in-depth knowledge of the database, including how they can submit their own published work to it and find published work of colleagues.

Loughborough University's Institutional Repository is a digital collection of Loughborough's research. The material in the collection is in many forms: published articles; pre-prints; book chapters; theses or even audiovisual material. The materials are centrally stored and preserved and the repository is a 'shop-window' for the university's intellectual output
