Loughborough University is looking to recruit recent graduates to its Graduate Programme, designed to provide individuals without extensive professional experience with an introduction to university management.
This is an exciting three-year programme for new or recent graduates of Loughborough University or existing employees of the University who meet the criteria. It is designed to develop individuals for roles in higher education leadership and management. The Loughborough Graduate Programme could be for you if:

The programme's series of nine month long placements are spread over different roles, services and Schools across the University. Placements are designed to inspire and stretch trainees to reach their potential, and build upon our reputation as a top ten university.
The skills and knowledge gained during placements are complemented by a tailored development programme, in addition to mentoring opportunities with members of the University's senior leadership team. Upon completion of the programme trainees will be well-suited to apply for management roles at Loughborough or other universities.

Some frequently asked questions about the Loughborough Graduate Programme.
Can I apply with my CV?
No. All applications must be submitted using the online application form. CVs will not be considered and applicants who have submitted only their CV will be automatically rejected.
Do I need to complete a supporting statement?
Yes, a supporting statement is required. There is 750-word limit, covering three key questions
- Why are you interested in a career in higher education and, in particular, why at Loughborough University?
- What is your proudest achievement to date? What have you learnt from this experience?
- Can you describe a time when you showed initiative?
To avoid the online application timing out, we recommend that you type your supporting statement out before copy and pasting into the online text boxes provided.
Can the University apply for a tier 2 visa under this post?
No. Unfortunately, the University is unable to apply for a certificate of sponsorship for this post under Tier 2 of the UK Visa & Immigration's Points Based System as this job is not listed as a skilled job in the UKVI Codes of Practice. Applicants who do not have permission to work in the UK would need to obtain permission through an alternative immigration route. Whilst we welcome applications from non-EEA candidates, these applicants would need to provide evidence of their right to work in the UK before an offer of employment could be made.
Can I apply if I haven't studied at Loughborough University?
Existing employees of the University, who have graduated (not necessarily from Loughborough), may also be considered if they meet the criteria.
Can I apply if I graduated more than two years ago?
No. We ask that applicants have completed their studies within the last two years, so you must have graduated in summer 2016 or more recently. Applicants graduating from or who have recently obtained Masters and PhD qualifications will also be considered.
Existing employees of the University, who have graduated (not necessarily from Loughborough), are able to apply regardless of the year they graduated.

I am expecting (or have) a 2:2 - can I still apply?
Yes, we will consider all applications from candidates who have achieved a degree at bachelor's level.
Can I apply if I am graduating with a Master's degree or PhD?
Yes. Although we ask that applicants have graduated from university within the last two years, you are still eligible to apply if you have graduated with a Master's degree or a PhD within the last two years.
Do I need to have a relevant degree?
No. We will consider graduates from any degree discipline.
How much professional experience are you looking for?
The programme is designed to provide candidates who do not have extensive professional experience with an introduction to a career in university management. As such, extensive professional experience is not required, the aim of the programme is to be introductory in nature.
Is this programme competitive?
This is this the first year we have run the Loughborough Graduate Programme, but we anticipate it will be highly competitive with a large number of applications for a small number of roles.
When does the programme start?
Successful applicants will begin the Loughborough Graduate Programme on Monday 10 September 2018.
How long does the graduate programme last?
The total duration of the programme is three years. The programme consists of four series of nine-month long placements spread over different roles, services and Schools across the University. Placements are designed to inspire and stretch trainees to reach their potential, and build upon our reputation as a top ten university
Can I choose my placements?
We try to account for particular interests that trainees have expressed throughout the application process whilst balancing this with placements which will challenge trainees and offer wide exposure to the range of university business.
Will I get paid?
Yes. The first year starting salary for trainees on the Loughborough Graduate Programme is £24,285. Upon successful completion of performance reviews this will then increase to £26,495 in year two and £29,799 in year three.
It's important to note that salaries may also increase with any cost of living award implemented by Loughborough University.
Is there a guarantee of a permanent job at the end?
We do not guarantee a job at the end of the programme. Trainees will develop a wealth of skills and knowledge across the three years placing them in a strong position to secure a management role at the end of the programme.
