Wireless Coverage in Halls of Residence
The University is in the process of providing wireless coverage to all Halls, but not all Hall rooms have strong wireless services yet, and you will always get a faster and more reliable service if you connect via a cable to the network socket in your room. IT Services supply the cable free of charge, and there are instructions available at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hallnet/hallstart.html. If you have difficulty with this, our PC Clinic staff (see www.lboro.ac.uk/it/pcclinic/) will assist you. If your cable isn't long enough for you to work where you want to within your room, return your cable to swap it for a longer one.

Please note that you may receive a wireless signal in other areas, due to adjacency with areas where there is coverage, but the signal could be unreliable. If you need wireless in your hall study bedroom you have the option of providing your own wireless router, plugged into your wired network point – see our HallNet FAQ on wireless (at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hallnet/faq.html#wireless) for details.
