Palm Pre - Connecting to lboro or eduroam wireless networks

Note: Before beginning you must have setup e-mail on your Palm Pre and have access to a wireless network (other than the one you are trying to setup) or 3G Internet access.

First you will need to transfer the Loughborough University Certificate Authority to your Palm Pre. E-mailing yourself the certificate and then opening it on your Palm Pre phone achieves this.

  1. On your computer download a copy of the '.cer' Loughborough University Certificate authority http://www.lboro.ac.uk/it/wireless/files/lboro-ca.cer.

Make sure you use save link as or save target as to download (otherwise you will simply install the cert on the computer you are using).

Once this has been downloaded onto your local computer, send an email to yourself with the certificate as an attachment.

  2. On your Palm Pre open the e-mail application and open the e-mail you sent yourself containing the certificate.

    Palm Pre Home Screen

Open email with certificate as attachment.

  3. In the e-mail click on the attachment to open it.

    Inbox and open the e-mail.

    Open attachment.

  4. The Certificate Manager Application will open and you will be asked to trust the certificate.

  8. Then click Sign-In.

    Successfully connected.

  9. Once you successfully connect a tick will appear next to the name of the network you are connected to.
