Google Applications
Student E-mail and Groupware
We are delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached with Google to offer the Google Apps for Education service as the next generation student e-mail system at Loughborough. In addition to the award winning Google Mail product, Google Apps will also provide Loughborough students with state of the art groupware and collaborative working facilities - new services for Loughborough. More information about Google Apps for Education is available from Google, and in these Web pages.
Google Apps at Loughborough is used on a daily basis by around 16,000 undergraduates and taught course postgraduates. E-mail is the primary application used by Loughborough students, but interest in the other Google Apps services has been high. Some 75% of students are using Google Calendar, and just under 50% using Google Docs. We are also working with Google to test new features, including Google Wave, and on a range of enhancements to the Google Apps service.
