Using our Wireless Network (or our Wired Network)
If your Education Institution is a member of eduroam then you can use our services with your own userid and password.
eduroam visitors from other institutions should contact their own institution for any set-up instructions and support.
More details about eduroam are at: www.eduroam.org/.
Public Network Sockets
For users who do not have wireless capabilities or who can not configure their settings (e.g. due to corporate desktop restrictions), there are a limited number of "public" wired network sockets located in the University Library and the James France exhibition area. These sockets use 802.1X wired authentication (eduroam Tier2 / Tier3) to enable visitor access.
Current eduroam enabled wall sockets on campus are:
- James France (see map at http://maps.lboro.ac.uk/place/james-france/) exhibition area sockets:
- Single labelled socket on external wall nearest the cafe.
- University Library (see map at http://maps.lboro.ac.uk/place/pilkington-library/):
- Sockets 03:xxx and 03:xxx Near the Cafe 641 internal entrance
Over time it is hoped to increase the number of areas covered by eduroam public sockets. Look out for the eduroam signs indicating public socket availability.
All users of our eduroam service are required to adhere to our Acceptable Use Policy and any equivalent policies of their own academic institution, and the Users section of the JANET Roaming Policy.
