Every year Loughborough University hosts the UK’s largest careers event, with over 190 companies coming onto campus for one day to meet with our students. Among the companies at the 2014 fair include GE, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, PwC, Microsoft, Caterpillar, Apple, Marks & Spencer’s and Tesco plus many more.
At Loughborough University we are renowned for our connections with global companies and the employability of our graduates.
Putting you in contact with global companies
All undergraduate programmes offer an optional work placement during your studies. Our UK and international students are offered placements, and often employment afterwards, at companies such as PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Rolls Royce, Balfour Beatty and many more.
We have three careers fairs per year and the October Fair is the largest university careers fair in the UK with 190 employers, from all sectors; Finance, Banking, Engineering, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, Retail, IT and Telecoms. We offer you the opportunity to talk to over 300 employers per year on campus, at fairs, employer evening talks and workshops with staff.
Supporting international students to find graduate jobs
The Careers and Employability Centre runs 100 events centrally and in departments alongside your academic study. There is an International Careers Adviser dedicated to supporting our international students, they organise specific events and resources to assist with:
- Marketing yourself to employers in your home country and in the UK
- Preparing you for work after studies (international undergraduate and postgraduate)
- International Students Careers Blog
- Finding you work during and after studies
- Post-study work immigration advice
- Putting you in contact with international alumni networks
Where do our international students go to work?
Our international students go on to work at global and independent companies, both in the UK and in their home countries, during studies and after graduation. A number of examples are listed below:
- BP – Tolu Falade (Nigerian graduate)
- Cummins Turbo Technologies – Matthew Ebenezer (Indian graduate)
- Mobell Communications – Xiayun Chen (Chinese graduate)
We understand that studying overseas is a significant investment for international students and their families, which is why we feel you should receive a strong, long-term return on your investment.
The information above demonstrates how seriously we take our responsibility to prepare you for the international job market and support you in your ambition of finding the right job during and after your studies.
