Entry Requirements

The Loughborough University Study Abroad Programme is open to undergraduate university students who have completed at least two years study of a four year University or College degree (or one year of a three year degree).

Phase Two: It is expected that you will currently be attaining good results in an academic subject related to your department choice at Loughborough University.

English Language Start Dates

Phase One of the Study Abroad Programme allows you to develop your knowledge and command of English in order for you to be fully able to receive academic tuition within your chosen department by the start of the Autumn (Fall) Semester.

Students with a suitable English qualification are exempt from the English Language Study programme and may enter directly onto an academic programme in October.

Your current level of English language ability determines the start date of your English language course. Please see the table below for full details.

IELTS

Course A (30 weeks): January – September

IELTS 4.5 overall with no subtest below 4.0 (some departments may require higher scores)*

Course A (30 weeks): January – September

IELTS 5.0 overall with no subtest below 4.5 (some departments may require higher scores)*

Course C (10 weeks): July - September

IELTS 5.5 overall with no subtest below 5.0 (some departments may require higher scores)*

Course D (6 weeks): August – September

IELTS 6.0 overall with no subtest below 5.5 (some departments may require higher scores)*

Please note: you can choose a longer period of study than your English language level requires should you wish.
