FACILITIES MANAGEMENT NOTICE OF MINOR WORKS
Notice No.11 (08/06/17)

W & S BUILDING ADAPTATION AND REFURBISHMENT PROJECT NO 11452

SPECIFICS OF THIS NOTICE: PLANNED INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICE WORKS

This is to give notice of work associated with the above project:

As part of the W & S Building Adaptation and Refurbishment Project there is a requirement for the installation of New Water and Heating Main Services from the entrance off Ashby Road, the dual carriageway of University Road, University Road (in front of S Building and Wolfson Building) and Mumford Lane towards the John Pickford building.

There will be disruption to the University roads and pavement areas during this period of work, with traffic control measure in place. All works will be carried out as per the standards for conducting works on carriageways in accordance with Chapter 8 of the traffic signs manual and street works codes of practice. Areas will be hoarded off to segregate the works from LU staff, students, visitors and the general public.

Excavation works will take place in the roads and pavement areas as shown on the Infrastructure Works Program Revision 3 below. Further updates will be issued as the work progresses regarding traffic management.

TIMESCALE?

• Infrastructure works to commence from 12th June 2017 to 23rd September 2017 as indicated on the Program of Works.
• Traffic Management to be in place on the dual carriageway of University Road from 15th June 2017.
• Delivery and storage of materials with crane lift on 16th June 2017 to entrance as highlighted on dual carriageway area.

HOW WILL THE WORK EFFECT ME?

• Strictly no access to the work areas which will be clearly identified with protective fencing to LU staff and students.
• No vehicle access from Ashby Road to the University Campus via the dual carriageway on University Road.
• Closure of one side of the University Road carriageway with the remaining carriageway to allow for two-way traffic access to Mumford Lane, the Multi-Storey Car Park and vehicle exit/egress onto Ashby Road.
• Some disruption in the area will be unavoidable during the refurbishment and access will be restricted to these areas during the work. This will be clearly identified by the contractor carrying out the work.
• Emergency evacuation routes will remain unaltered during the period of works with any necessary diversions being advised by further notices and any diversions clearly sign posted.
• Every effort will be made to keep construction activities to a minimum, specifically noise, dust and work processes.
