PARTICIPANTS NEEDED: Post-menopausal women aged 45-52 years

We are interested to find out how a short walk effects the health of our blood vessels and whether nutrient intake can improve cardiovascular health. This research may identify strategies that help to reduce the risk of developing heart disease as we get older.

We are looking for female participants who meet the following criteria:
• Aged between 45-52 years old
• At least 1 year post-menopausal
• Taking part in at least 2 hours of structured exercise per week
• Non-smokers
• No known cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or other chronic diseases
• No medications

Time commitment:
• 3 visits to the laboratory over a two-month period

Measurements to be taken include:
• Blood samples
• Blood pressure
• Resting ECG reviewed by a cardiologist
• Fitness assessment
• 10-year cardiovascular disease risk score
• Non-invasive measurements looking at the structure and function of your blood vessels (e.g using blood pressure cuffs and an ultrasound machine)

Please get in touch with Jen Craig (j.craig@lboro.ac.uk or 01509 225458) if you would like some more information.
