FACILITIES MANAGEMENT NOTICE OF MINOR WORKS
Commissioning/Witnessing/Installation of new fire alarm system
Saturday 19th May 2018, Sunday 20th May 2018, Monday 21 st May 2018 and Tuesday 22nd May 2018
SPECIFICS OF THIS NOTICE:
As part of the works to refurbish W building we need to replace the fire alarm system. As the newly refurbished areas are handed back, we need to commission/fully prove the operation of these parts of the system. We are now nearing completion for area W.U (i.e. Sir David Davies Undercroft). Also, we are at a point where existing equipment needs to be relocated to accommodate the new configuration yet retain fire detection in areas still to be refurbished.
The works planned for 19th/ 20th May will take place from 7.30am Saturday to 5.00pm Sunday, these works will affect functionality of the system in several parts of the building i.e. we will be without fire detection/sounders in large areas of the building. The works planned for 21st/22nd are for commissioning/witnessing and will take place between 6.30pm & 8.00pm both days.
HOW WILL THE WORKS AFFECT ME?
On all dates and times stated, the building must be empty, no LU Staff and no Students to be in the building, this includes overnight Saturday 19th May 2018
NB. Monday 21st May and Tuesday 22nd May 2018, the fire alarm system incorporates several sounders on the roof area which will be clearly heard from surrounding buildings such as Burleigh Court, KGB, STEM and possibly David Collett. Again, please be aware of this planned works.
