FACILITIES MANAGEMENT NOTICE OF MAJOR WORKS

UPDATE 21st  APRIL 2017

 

DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES THIS WORK WAS NOT CARRIED OUT ON TUESDAY 18TH APRIL.

 

THIS WORK HAS  BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY 22ND APRIL 2017

 

 

  • The road between Telford 4A and the end of Elvyn Richards Dining shall be closed for approximately 30 minutes on Tuesday 18th April to make good the road.  Road closure signs and barriers will be erected during the works.
  • The road between Telford 4A and the end of Elvyn Richards Dining shall be closed on Thursday 6th April 2017 and shall be completed by 6pm. No works shall be carried out into the evening and overnight.
  • Water will go off to Pilkington Library and Evlyn Richards Dining 5th April, however temporary supplies will be put in place.
  • Water will go off  to Elvyn Richard Dining 6th and possibly 7th April again temporary supplies will be put in place
  • Water will go off to Telford blocks on 6th April but temporary supply will be put in place
  • Water will also go off to Red roofs on 6th April but unfortunately there is no way of providing temporary water supply to these blocks. Bottled water will be provided by campus living
  • All works will commence at 9am and be completed by 6pm

 

 

 

REPLACEMENT OF MAINS COLD WATER MAIN BETWEEN TELFORD 4A AND WOLFSON TW

  • Facilities Management are installing a new cold water main which serves the Village, Evlyn Richards dining and Pilkington Library.

WHY DOES THE WORK NEED TO BE DONE?

  • There is a temporary main installed following a bust pipe. We are replacing that with a permanent installation fed from the main running across the far side of the playing field.

 

HOW WILL THE WORKS AFFECT ME?

 

  • The works shall commence on 9th January and shall be complete by latest 21st April
  • There shall be a certain amount of noise created by this work, and the path adjacent to Telford court 4 will be required to close during part of the works.
  • The road may need to be closed. However at the moment this is under discussion as to whether we can bore under the road.
  • During the Easter break, (date to be confirmed), the water will be required to be turned off to make final connections. This will be planned as before and temporary supplies shall be used.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • For your own safety and that of others, Facilities Management and the contractors would request that you assist by taking note of the works that are in progress and alternative pedestrian routes.
  • Safety barriers and fences will be placed for your protection and we would ask that you keep out of fenced off areas.
  • If you have any worries at all about the works, or you have been affected in some way by them, please do contact one of the above staff, your departmental or hall manager, or a member of campus security. We will deal promptly with your concerns.
